I was teaching a class the other day and one of my clients told me that her father is 90 years old and stretches 4x a day. He also stopped skiing just last year. Impressive! This is a fantastic reminder of just how important it is to stretch.
As instructors, we remind our clients that stretching is just as important as the workout itself-especially as we grow older. I'm feeling tight myself and made it a goal to incorporate more stretching (and foam rolling!) into my daily life. It's hard because most of us just want to fit that workout in go on with our day. However stretching and releasing all parts of the body inclduing the hips, glutes, back, etc is crucial to a balanced body. It also helps prevent future injuries. So take some time- even if it's 5, 10 or 60 minutes to join me in stretching it out. Your body will thank you!
