It's August, I'm 9 months pregnant and I'm always thirsty! (The colder the better too.) I love it when I stumble upon a drink that I'm hesitant to try at first, but end up truly loving it. This is the case with Mamma Chia. I was at Super Saturday in the Hamptons a few weeks ago, and stopped by the Mamma Chia booth. What intrigued me at first is the fact that I was just talking to my chiropractor about increasing my intake of Omega-3's. I've been suffering from inflamed knuckles and joints overall from this pregnancy. I purchased Carlson's lemon flavored liquid Omega-3 supplement which is fine, but I have to say the fishy after taste isn't my fave. I have to drink something else immediately after to get rid of the taste!
Back to Mamma Chia- after a complimentary taste test, I was surprised that the drink was surprisingly delicious and tastes like jello! I tried the cherry lime flavor and was given a full bottle to take with me (whoop!) After drinking that up, on my next trip to Whole Foods it was on sale for 2 for $6 so I purchased more. So what's inside this vitality drink?
- 2500mg Omega-3
- Excellent source of fiber
- Powerful antioxidants
- 4g of complete protein
- 95mg calcium
- Gluten free and vegan
I've always heard of the benefits of chia, I already throw ground flax seeds into my smoothies, but I never incorporated them into my diet. Et voila! Now I can in an easy, delicious way. Kudos to CEO Janie Hoffman and her magical chia drink. Give it a try!
Next up in my healthy drink obsession is FLUROwater. Thanks to the folks at this brand, I was lucky enough to receive generous samples featuring delicious flavors like Dark Cherry, Kiwi Cucumber, Macoun Apple and Watermelon Raspberry (my personal fave.) Sometimes I just get so sick of drinking plain old water. So this is a welcome change packed with 14 essential nutrients such as:
- Vitamins A, B1, B3, B5, B6, B12, E, K, Biotin, Folic Acid (all beneficial for pregnancy too!)
- Zero preservatives, sugar or dyes.
I was also blown away by the fact that each bottle contains 6 grams of fiber, which helps keep the caloric intake to less then 10 calories per bottle!! Amazing.
Another benefit? According to their site, in addition to vitamins and nutrients, "FLUROwater also contains .0166mg of sodium fluoride per serving, a very low amount of fluoride and less than what is typically found in natural spring water. Fluoride greatly reduces dental decay/cavities and their severity. A lack of fluoride in the diet can cause gum disease and increase the amount of present dental cavities. For more information regarding fluoride and facts provided by the American Dental Association (ADA)."
A drink that's good for my teeth and tastes good too? I'll drink to that!
Let me know if you've tried either brand. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Cheers to good health! xx
