If you know me, you know I love me some music and making playlists. Music is and has always been an integral part of my life. As we welcome bebe M into the world, how can I not have music playing in the background to help not only motivate me, but soothe this little wonder child?
So I jumped onto Spotify this weekend (maybe I was also inspired by the VMA's?) and created my master labor and delivery list. Since there are a few phases of delivery, the top of the list features girl power themes that will simply get me pumped up for this whole thing. Think Lady Gaga's "Born this Way", Beyonce's "Run the World", Janet Jackson's "Control." Yea, let's do this.
The second phase of the list is a bit more hip to the hop as intensity will increase so a little Snoop Dogg "Drop it Like iIt's Hot", Nelly's "Hot in Herre" and my personal faves Salt-n-Pepa's "Push It" and good 'ol "Ice Ice Baby" (where's the ice chips?!) will keep me going.
At this point, you may be thinking I'm crazy or simply just laughing out loud (a good thing!) Don't fret, there is a portion of the list that's calmer, softer and simply more relaxing as I truly don't know how I'm going to react during this whole experience. With that being said, enter Enya, Enigma and Sarah McLachlan, mixed in with a little Alexi Murdoch's "Breathe" (ahhhhh...)
Picking it up a bit for some good vibrations, take me to the islands with Bob Marley's "Is this Love" and "Three Little Birds" with a little "Higher Love."
To bring it on home, it wouldn't be a Muller playlist without featuring the boys from Dublin as U2 is Daddy's favorite band. It's "Magnificent" and a "Beautiful Day."
Last but not least, I had to add "Amazing Grace" as the lyrics of this song makes me cry every. single. time. I was VERY hesitant to put the LeAnn Rimes version on here because well, that's another subject, but it was the only one I found that was just so beautifully simple.
Et voila. Here it is. There's about 3+ hours (hopeful?) of music on this playlist entitled "Bebe M Jam Sesh."
I'll probably continue to add songs as my waiting continues. I'd love to hear your thoughts and I'm open to suggestions! Did you have music playing while your baby was born? Share!!
